Platform Guide

Everything you need to know about creating, collecting, and evolving cats in the Generative Cats cosmos.

🌌The Cosmos

What is the Cosmos?
The Cosmos is the entire Generative Cats universe. It contains Galaxies, which contain Stars (users), which have Planets (cats) orbiting them. Every cat, creator, and community connection exists within this shared cosmic space.
What are Galaxies?
Galaxies are communities within the Cosmos. When you join, you're assigned to one of 10 galaxies. Your galaxy is your home — you'll see galaxy-specific contests, leaderboards, and connections. Cross-galaxy merges create visible links between communities.
How does the cosmic hierarchy work?
Cosmos → Galaxies → Stars → Planets. You are a Star. Each cat you create becomes a Planet orbiting your Star. Your Star is part of a Galaxy, and all Galaxies together form the Cosmos.

Your Star

What is my Star?
Your Star is your identity in the Cosmos. You don't pick a username — your Star name is generatively derived from the cats you create. Your first cat names your Star, and subsequent cats may cause it to evolve.
How does my Star name change?
Your Star name evolves as you create more cats. Each new creation subtly influences your identity, reflecting the materials and themes you explore. Your Star bio also evolves incrementally.
Can other people see my Star?
Yes! Zooming into a Galaxy shows all the Stars within it. Other creators can visit your Star to see your collection of Planets (cats), your bio, and your creation history.

🐱Creating Cats

How do I create a cat?
Go to the Generate page and describe a material (like "popcorn", "crystal", or "autumn leaves"). A unique cat figurine is generated from that material. Each creation is one of a kind.
What are Originals, Remixes, and Merges?
Originals (0 parents) are brand new cats. Remixes (1 parent) are variations on an existing cat, inheriting its lineage. Merges (2 parents) blend two cats together, creating a new Planet that exists in both creators' Star systems.
What makes Merges special?
Merges create connections. The merged cat exists in both creators' systems with a portal between them. Cross-galaxy merges create visible inter-galactic links. The more a cat is merged, the more prestigious it becomes. Merge count drives the rarity system.
How many cats can I create?
Free accounts get 30 lifetime creations. Prismatic subscribers get 30/month. Early bird pricing locks in $7.99/mo or $79.99/year for life (limited availability); standard price is $9.99/mo or $99.99/year.

Engagement & Prestige

How does the prestige system work?
Cats earn prestige through community engagement: favorites, remixes, and merges. Higher engagement leads to finish upgrades: Standard → Bronze → Silver → Gold → Prismatic. Payment never buys prestige.
What are the finish tiers?
Standard (white border), Bronze (bronze gradient), Silver (silver gradient), Gold (gold gradient), and Prismatic (animated rainbow). Each tier is earned through sustained community engagement.
What reactions can I give?
Six white-icon reactions: Heart, Star, Flame, Check, Palette, and Diamond. All reactions are monochrome — no color emoji on cat cards.

🧭Discover & Navigation

What is the Discover feed?
Discover shows cats from across the Cosmos. You can filter by traits, galaxy, finish, and sort by newest, most favorited, or trending. It's the main way to find cats to favorite, remix, or merge with.
How do I find specific cats?
Use the attribute search in Discover to filter by material traits. You can also browse by Galaxy to see cats from a specific community, or visit a creator's Star to see their full collection.
What is the Lineage view?
Every cat has a lineage graph showing its ancestry — parents, grandparents, and all descendants. Deeper lineages earn higher generation numbers, contributing to rarity.

🏆Contests & Awards

How do contests work?
Contests run on a cascade: Daily → Weekly → Monthly → Yearly. Each galaxy has its own contests. Winners are determined by community votes. Winning cats earn awards and their creators earn champion badges.
How do I vote?
Active contests appear on the contest page. You can vote for one cat per contest. The cat with the most votes at the end of the period wins.
What are champion badges?
Winning a contest earns you a Champion badge (Weekly, Monthly, Galaxy, Cosmos). These appear on your Star profile and signal your standing in the community.

🎯Badges & Quests

What are daily quests?
Daily quests give you small engagement goals: favorite a cat, visit discover, check a lineage. Completing quests earns streak bonuses that contribute to your overall prestige.
How do badges work?
Badges are awarded for milestones: first cat created, first remix received, first merge, contest wins, streaks, and more. They appear on your Star profile and track your journey through the Cosmos.

💎Pricing

Is Generative Cats free?
Yes — free accounts get 30 lifetime creations to explore the platform. Payment unlocks more creations, not status. Prestige is always earned.
What do paid plans include?
Prismatic ($9.99/mo or $99.99/year) gives you 30 creations every month, ongoing. Early bird subscribers lock in $7.99/mo or $79.99/year for life — while early-bird availability lasts.

♾️Ownership & Permanence

Are creations permanent?
Yes. Cats, planets, stars, and the portals between them stay in the cosmos. That's what makes lineage work — a merge next year can reach back to a cat made today. There's no delete button for a creation, and the only thing that ever removes one is the law: a rights-holder demand we don't contest, illegal content, or a court order.
Do I own the cats I generate?
No — and neither does anyone else. Everyone here agrees that everything generated on the platform is free for every member to use: share it, repost it, print it, sell prints, remix it elsewhere, tell your own stories about the cats. You can say you made a cat, and the lineage will back you up. You just can't claim it as yours alone, and nobody can tell you to stop using one. The full rule is in the Terms, section 7.
What happens to my cats if I leave?
They stay, and they stop being connected to you. Deleting your account is permanent: your creations remain in the cosmos forever, unattributed, and if you return you begin as a new star. Deletion removes your sign-in and every piece of personal data we hold — so completely that even we couldn't tell you afterwards which star used to be yours. See Your Data & Deletion before you decide.

💬Getting Help

How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Sign in and visit Support → Send Feedback. Choose a category (general, bug, or feature request), describe the issue, and optionally include your email for follow-up. Every submission is reviewed.
How do I report content that needs to come down?
Use the Content Complaints page on the support hub. That's the channel for content that infringes your rights, is illegal, or is covered by a court order — the only reasons anything is ever removed.
Where can I find community updates?
Follow @generativecats.app on Instagram for daily featured cats and platform updates. The Cosmos timeline shows community-wide milestones and events.
